Breed: Canadian Eskimo Dog
Breed Group: Working
Appearance: A large dog of great strength and endurance. A thick, dense undercoat with stiff guard hairs. Originally bred to pull sleds in the Canadian Arctic. Independent, alert and active, aloof with strangers. May not be suitable for families with small children. Requires a considerable amount of exercise and a moderate amount of grooming. Care should be taken in the warmer weather to ensure overheating does not occur. An approximate lifespan of around 12 to 14 years.
Head: A large, well proportioned, broad, wedge shaped head. Muzzle tapered and of medium length.
Eyes: Eyes set wide apart, generally dark in colour.
Ears: Short, thick, triangular shaped ears with slightly rounded tips.
Mouth: Powerful jaws with a complete scissor bite.
Neck: Short, straight, thick and very muscular.
Forequarters: Broad, well muscled shoulders, Forelegs straight but well developed.
Body: Back level and well muscled, loin strong and well developed. Chest, deep and broad.
Hindquarters: Muscular, broad thighs with a good turn of stifle.
Feet: Feet large, and almost round in shape, well arched with thick pads and hair between the toes.
Tail: A large, bushy tail, moderately high set and carried up or over the back.
Gait movement: Powerful and brisk, with drive from hind legs.
Coat: Thick, dense undercoat with stiff guard hairs.
Colour: Any colour allowed.
Height: from 58 to 70cm (Dogs) 50 to 60cm (Bitches)
Weight: from 30 to 40kg (Dogs) 18 to 30kg (Bitches)
