Breed: Finnish Lapphund
Breed Group: Pastoral
Appearance: A medium sized, strongly built dog with an abundant, long outer coat and soft, thick undercoat. Originally bred to herd reindeer. Intelligent, faithful , calm and responsive. Good with children. Requires a moderate amount of exercise and considerable grooming to keep his coat in good order. Care should be taken during the warmer weather to ensure overheating does not occur. An approximate lifespan of around 11 to 13 years.
Head: Head relatively broad with a slightly rounded forehead, muzzle straight and slightly tapered with a black nose.
Eyes: Eyes oval in shape and dark in colour.
Ears: Ears of medium size, set far apart. Erect, pointed and broad at base.
Mouth: Strong jaws with a complete scissor bite.
Neck: A strong neck of medium length, covered with thick hair.
Forequarters: Straight, well boned, strong forelegs with well laid back shoulders.
Body: Back strong, straight and broad.
Hindquarters: Hind legs strong and straight with good bone.
Feet: Feet oval in shape and well arched.
Tail: Tail of medium length, covered with long hair, carried curved over the back when dog is moving.
Gait movement: Free and easy paces.
Coat: Abundant, long, coarse outer coat with a soft, thick undercoat.
Colour: All colours are allowed, but the main colour must dominate.
