Breed: German Longhaired Pointer
Breed Group: Gundog
Appearance: A large, noble dog with a long, smooth or slightly wavy topcoat and good undercoat. Originally bred for flushing and pointing at game. Calm, even tempered, loyal and affectionate. Good with children, but can be boisterous. Requires a considerable amount of exercise and moderate amount of grooming. An approximate lifespan of around 12 to 14 years.
Head: Top of head slightly rounded. Muzzle and skull of equal length. Nose brown.
Eyes: Medium size eyes, oval in shape and dark in colour.
Ears: Ears set quite high, broad and turning slightly forward.
Mouth: Strong jaws with a complete scissor bite.
Neck: Neck of moderate length, muscular and slightly arched.
Forequarters: Forelegs straight, muscular and strong with slightly sloping pasterns.
Body: A firm, straight back, muscular loins, well developed chest and deep ribcage.
Hindquarters: Hind legs straight and strong with well bent stifles.
Feet: Compact, oval shaped feet with strong nails and pads.
Tail: Customarily docked.
Gait movement: Free, long striding, stylish and graceful, with good forward reach and powerful drive from hindquarters.
Coat: A long, smooth or slightly wavy topcoat with a good undercoat.
Colour: Solid brown, dark brown roan, white' ticked, trout-coloured roan or brown and white.
Height: from 63 to 66cm (Dogs) 60 to 62cm (Bitches)
Weight: from 28 to 31kg (Dogs) 28 to 31kg (Bitches)
