Breed: Weimaraner

Appearance: A large, powerful dog with a short, sleek, smooth coat. Also a long haired variety. Originally bred to track, hunt, point and retrieve large game. Exuberant, protective, obedient and friendly. Good with children. Can be boisterous. Requires a considerable amount of exercise and little grooming. An approximate lifespan of around 12 to 14 years.
Head: An aristocratic, reasonably long head with a straight foreface and delicate nostrils. Nose grey in colour.
Eyes: Eyes of medium-size, round in shape. Shades of amber or blue-grey.
Ears: High set, long, lobular, slightly folded ears.
Mouth: Strong jaws with a complete scissor bite.
Neck: Neck of moderate length.
Forequarters: Forelegs straight and strong.
Body: Top line level, with slightly sloping croup. Chest well developed and deep. Shoulders well laid. Ribs well sprung.
Hindquarters: Hindquarters well muscled and moderately angulated, with well turned stifle. Hocks well let down.
Feet: Feet firm and compact with thick, close pads. Short nails, grey or amber in colour.
Tail: Customarily docked.
Gait movement: Effortless, ground covering and smooth paces.
Coat: Short, smooth and sleek in short haired variety.. In long-haired variety, coat long on body, somewhat longer on neck, chest and belly. Tail and back of limbs feathered.
Colour: Preferably silver grey, shades of mouse or roe grey permissible.
